The duel aims of Ms. SanFilippo’s firm are representation and education. Dawn focuses her practice on municipal and bankruptcy matters with an emphasis on Open Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) matters. She served as the Deputy/Acting Executive Director of the New Jersey Government Records Council (GRC). While at the GRC Dawn developed and presented numerous educational programs on OPRA to audiences comprised of government and private attorneys; law enforcement officers; records custodians; and municipal clerks, financial officers, department heads and governing bodies. Dawn has achieved statewide recognition as an OPRA expert through her presentation of 50+ OPRA seminars to professional organizations throughout the state. Attendants are impressed with her knowledge of the subject matter, her ability to present it humorously and in laymen terms. Her courses are approved by both New Jersey and Pennsylvanian for attorney and by Local Government Services for professional continuing education credits. As a bankruptcy practice Dawn, over a 20+ year period, filed and obtained court approval for fee applications. Most recently while at the GRC she reviewed and made recommendations for fee awards. She now reviews pending fee applications, advises and represents government agencies on challenging such fees.
